Fit for Nuclear (F4N)
Fit For Nuclear (F4N) is a scheme developed by the Nuclear AMRC to support manufacturers in England to take advantage of supply chain opportunities in the nuclear sector. The scheme is funded via the Government’s Regional Growth Fund (RGF) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), and is delivered by the Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS), now part of the Business Growth Service.
Funding is available for two types of projects; each eligible company can claim up to £10,000 per project on a 50% match funded basis, for a maximum of one project per strand (i.e. £20k maximum combined):
- Business Excellence (BE) projects, including compliance standards, operational improvement, strategy development or new tooling; or
- Research and development (R&D) projects, including manufacturing process optimisation, applied metrology or factory layout / planning.
F4N is a coaching scheme and in order to access funding you need to have completed three previous steps: Capability Questionnaire (1h expected time input), Online Assessment (3h) and an On-site Assessment (5h). Funded projects need to be completed by March 2016, and funding is subject to de minimis State Aid regulations (i.e. €200k max for all de minimis aid provided to any one business over a three-year fiscal period).
