Innovate UK is to invest £1.5m in technical feasibility studies to encourage new entrants to the energy sector and stimulate the adaption of disruptive technology. Further £500,000 is available from the NDA to support relevant projects.
The purpose of this competition is to find innovative solutions to long standing challenges in the oil and gas, nuclear and energy systems like:
- Taking inspections to the limit
- Dealing with data
- Engaging in energy
Innovate UK is seeking proposals from SMEs whose main business lies outside of the energy sector. Companies are allowed to collaborate with businesses of any size and from any sector.
Small companies could get up to 70%, medium businesses up to 60% and large companies up to 50% of their projects cost from the fund.
The fund should be used for technical feasibility studies to stimulate the adaption of disruptive technology in the energy sector.
Who is eligible to apply?
- SMEs whose main business lies outside the energy sector
- Projects should last 6 to 12 months
- Costs should be between £25,000 and £100,000
